An integral part of many Head Start programs around the country is the provision of safe transportation for Head Start children to and from their homes. In 2001, to improve safety during transportation, the Office of Head Start introduced the Head Start Transportation Safety regulation, 45 CFR Part 1310. To help Head Start programs comply with these regulations, Cleverex was awarded a federal contract by the Office of Head Start (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) to design a comprehensive information database.

The Head Start Transportation PathFinder gathered and organized information to help Head Start programs provide the safest possible transportation routes. The PathFinder’s database included federal regulations, state-level resources, frequently asked questions, plain-language guidance, and various training modules.
